Start Here¶
Three steps stand between a fresh Windows install and playing with a remapped controller, and none of them need prior knowledge.
- Install PadForge. One file. The optional drivers come later, and only if you need them.
- Plug in your device. PadForge lists it on the Devices page the moment Windows sees it. Controllers, keyboards, wheels, Wii Remotes, MIDI gear, and phones over the local network all count.
- Assign it to a slot. A slot is one virtual controller. Drop your device on a slot, pick what the slot should look like to games (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo (Switch Pro), Extended, Keyboard + Mouse, or MIDI), and the default mapping is already playable.
Two walkthroughs carry you through both ends of that list:
- Your First Controller goes from a fresh install to a game seeing a virtual pad.
- A Five-Minute Remap changes your first binding and shows the three ways to bind anything.
From there, the Guides take over: each one walks a single task from start to finish.
